What is Double Layer DVD – R/RW?

This kind of DVDs come in 12 cm diameter, double sided and has a capacity of 17.1 GB and that is very big. Another one with a lesser size of 8.4 GB comes in 12 cm diameter single sided.

These kinds of DVDs have compatibility issues with Legacy DVD ROMs which are basically of pick up head overrun type. So to avoid this compatibility issue the 2 layers must be equally recorded.

It’s been five years since I entered the CD and DVD duplication industry and though I was making a lot of money at first, the ever-evolving technologies didn’t like me getting richer everyday. The big-time orders are still there and I have no complaints regarding them, but the money I was making through smaller quantities of CD or DVD duplication received a major setback.

Well, Technology; I’ve no grudges against your advancements, but why do you have to let people know about your availability? Today, the biggest consideration one makes regarding getting a small number of CD-s or DVD-s written is whether they should do it themselves or shall they come to me; in the days of yore, there was but one option – allow me to burn your discs as well as your pockets. But things have changed and CD or DVD duplication is no more burning a disc and marking it with a sharpie. It makes the job look incomplete as well.

  • The Pros of outsourcing:

  • Customized direct-disc, professional quality printing.

  • A guarantee against money loss; if a media turns out bad, it’s the responsibility of the person who agreed to do the mass-duplication to replace the same.
